Welcome to Govt Industrial Training Institute, Bhaddu / Billawar
Government Industrial Training Institute Bhaddu/Billawar (ITI) was established in the year 1985 by the Technical Education Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, under the overall aegis of the Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGE&T), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, New Delhi. This Institute is situated at Village Bhaddu, a prominent town of Tehsil Billawar, once the seat of Imperial power on Bhinni Naalah (a tributary of the Ujh river).
The Institute is 3 km west of Phinter Chowk and 10 km short of Billawar Tehsil Headquarters. Govt. ITI Bhaddu/Billawar is among the 53 Govt. ITIs presently existing in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The ITI covers 10 kanals of land with approximately 10,165 sq. ft. of constructed area. The Institute started with two trades — Electrician and Stenography. Later, two more trades, Welder and Mechanic Radio/TV, were sanctioned in 1987, taking the total to four trades. With the addition of three more SCVT trades, the Institute presently runs successfully with seven trades.
The Institute also runs a second shift in three trades under the Self Finance Scheme, and is covered under the “Upgradation of 1396 ITIs under Public Private Partnership Mode” scheme, involving the upgradation and introduction of new trades. Short-term courses under the Skill Development Initiative (SDI) Scheme and the Skill Development for the 8000 Youths of Jammu and Kashmir (SDYJK-8000) Scheme also run successfully at the Institute. Trainees who successfully pass the All India Trade Test (AITT) in NCVT trades are issued NCVT certificates by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, while those passing the State Trade Test in SCVT trades are issued SCVT certificates by the Directorate of Technical Education, Jammu & Kashmir.
Trainees who complete short-term courses are issued National Proficiency Certificates by the NCVT, valid nationally as well as internationally. As of 2011, the Institute’s pass-out count stood at 551 under NCVT and 372 under SCVT. Most pass-outs have gone on to work in the government and private sectors, while some have started their own establishments. Beyond training, the Institute regularly conducts motivation campaigns, entrepreneurship campaigns, campus interviews, and cultural and sports activities.
